Ball Hockey @ the Local Park
EDIT: 2 extra pictures & 1 video :)

This past Sunday, I went to play ball hockey with some friends at a local park. Here are some pictures of the rink. As you can see, it's nicely built with boards all around and wire fences behind the nets. There are even stands if you want to bring your fan club to cheer for you
. Well I haven't played exterior ball hockey since a very long time ago. I remember the last time was back in high school ... some 12-13 years ago. Back in the days, we were playing once a week on an empty parking lot, running back and forth like crazy because everybody was in shape. Such great memories of a time when we were young and free of responsibilities
.
For this past Sunday, 10 people showed up and we were able to play 5 on 5. The great thing about ball hockey is that you need team work in order to score goals. You can't really deke/stickhandle the entire opposition like some people do on ice hockey. The other important thing you need is a good cardio. Running back and forth is not easy for everybody. It's really a game of intervals. You go fast to get the ball, to position yourself to shoot, to back check, to come back on defense ... and then you relax for a bit until you go back to running again. Great way to build up your cardio since it's an interval training. My goal is to make this game a regular thing every Sunday evening during the summer and fall among me and my friends. Obviously if the weather is cooperative
. I will take more pictures next time.

sounds like a blast
Cardio is definitely #1. When I playing rec BB this spring I re-learned that one... lol.
Nice. Sounds like fun! I wanna play hockey now.
Always good to practice outdoor activities...
@godfatherofgreenbay - It was incredible because almost everybody showed up. They gave a great effort and the game was played at a really good pace.
@raiderjester - HAHA, thankfully I have a pretty good cardio despite having the extra pounds of fat in the belly section. It's just incredible how you can greatly improve your cardio with sports like ball hockey or basketball :)
@Shinta_20090219 - If you ever come to Montreal during the weekends ... and you're free a Sunday night, just msg me ;)
@Raymond_Tengen - Shame you're not a hockey player because I definitely would have called you ... since the park where we play is Noel-Nord :)
@kachino - No wonder it looked familiar...
Guess I will see you in the NHL soon :)
well actually I'm more interested in Montreal mountain roads. Any suggestions?
@Raymond_Tengen - HAHA, that's right. Knew they build the rink last year but never played until this year. :)
@theHealthRabbit - Way too late for that. Well if you ever come to Montreal again, bring your hockey gear ;)
@Shinta_20090219 - You can always go to Mont Tremblay or Mont Saint-Sauveur for mountain bike trails :)
@kachino - I have none! When I was little, I used to sleep on top of my brother's hockey bag.
@kachino - just another reason to love sports.
@kachino - hmm any mountain roads ? for cars
@theHealthRabbit - Well I have some extra hockey sticks ;)
@raiderjester - Nothing like playing sports ;). With Winnipeg most likely getting a team back in the NHL, I've heard the Blue Jackets might get bumped in the Eastern Conference ... what's your thoughts on that?
@Shinta_20090219 - The same locations have mountain roads for cars. I'm pretty sure they're rally competitions over there.
@kachino - A lot of Jackets fans seem to think that that is our ticket to the playoffs. While I would love to go to the East (lets face it, trips to the West Coast KILL a team this far east), we'd still have to take on teams like Pitt, Washington, Buffalo, etc. At least those teams would pack our Arena... psh.
@raiderjester - I honestly can't wait to see you guys join the East. It's just ridiculous that your team has to travel all that much while being in the eastern part of the continent. Detroit & Chicago, I can understand since they're original 6 teams but Columbus? With that being said, I don't think the Habs playing you guys 3 more times during a season is a good thing because we are on a big losing streak vs you guys :)
@kachino - look, don't get your hopes up that high yet. Detroit has first pickings and even though theyre in Central time, Nashville could get the move (because they're further south and would fit the SE division).
But yeah, for real, I'd be down with playing teams like Montreal, the Isles, Maple Leafs, Bruins... rather than going to Vancouver, LA, Calgary and SJ twice every year. Yuck.
