#1: You're at a crossroad with a choice of 2 directions (RIGHT & LEFT). One direction leads to heaven and the other one to hell. There are 2 two identical twins at the crossroad. One always tells you the truth while the other always lies. By asking one only one question, how will you make sure to find out the correct direction (heaven)?
"What will the other person say if I ask them which direction I need to take to go to heaven?" ... then all you need to do is to go the opposite direction of the answer.#2: You have 2 water containers (5 liters and 3 liters). You have an infinite amount of water at your supply. With the use of both water containers, how will you be able to get exactly 4 liters?
First, you fill up the the 3 liter container, then pour the water into the 5 liter container. Fill up the 3 liter container again, and pour water from that container into the 5 liter container until it is full [leaving 1 liter of water in the 3 liter container.] Empty out the 5 liter container. Pour the 1 liter of water from the 3 liter container into the 5 liter container. Fill up the 3 liter container again and pour that water into the 5 liter container.#3: You have a rope with a length of 2 meters. You hold the rope in the air like in the following picture in order to get a height of 1m. What will be the distance between the two ends of the rope (x)?
X = 0 meterCongrats to
Flipguy310 for finding the answers to 2 out of the 3 questions!

I think I can only solve #2.
First, you fill up the the 3 liter container, then pour the water into the 5 liter container. Fill up the 3 liter container again, and pour water from that container into the 5 liter container until it is full [leaving 1 liter of water in the 3 liter container.] Empty out the 5 liter container. 1 liter + 3 liters = 4 liters. ^____^
Man oh Man, I forgot the answer to #1. I used to know that one.
#3 is actually pretty easy provided you remember the formula/equation of an ellipse, which I also forgot!
#1...
I finally remembered. You ask either twin, "Which way would your twin tell me to go?" The twin that tells the truth would tell you which direction the liar would point you in, so you'd go the other way. The liar would tell you that his/her twin would tell you to go one way [which is a lie], so go the opposite way.
YES!
@kachino - Damn it, of course it's zero and I wouldn't even need the formula of an ellipse... Still, that formula would've gotten me the answer, just 100 times longer :P See how complicated my brain got???
