Maple Leafs Jokes

Since I'm a Montreal Canadiens fan and the Toronto Maple Leafs are still winless, why not make fun of them right?
Here's a post containing some jokes at their expense.
Q: What is the difference between a triangle and the Leafs?
A: A triangle has 3 points.
Q: What do the Leafs and the Titanic have in common?
A: They both look good until they hit the ice.
Q: What's the difference between the Toronto Maple Leafs and a cigarette vending machine?
A: The vending machine has Players!
Q: Why are the Toronto Maple Leafs like Canada Post?
A: They both wear uniforms and don't deliver!
Q: Why doesn't Hamilton have an NHL team?
A: Because then Toronto would want one.
Q: What do the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Argonauts and the Toronto Blue Jays all have in common besides being based in the city of Toronto ?
A: None of them can play hockey.
Q: What do you call 25 millionaires around a TV watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs?
A: The Toronto Maple Leafs.
Q: What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and Billy Graham have in common?
A. They both can make 20,000 people stand up and yell 'Jesus Christ'.
Q: How do you keep the Toronto Maple Leafs out of your yard?
A: Put up a goal net.
Q: What do you call a Toronto Maple Leaf with a Stanley Cup ring?
A: A thief.
Q: Where is the safest place to leave your naked wife?
A: With the Leafs, they can’t score.
Q: What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and possums have in common?
A: Both play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Fernando Torres Song
I can't believe I'm going to this but I'm going to post a chant from Liverpool FC. As you all know, I'm an Arsenal FC fan but I don't hate Liverpool. I can't say the same thing for Manchester United, Chelsea FC or Tottenham Hotspurs. Anyways, here's the chant lyrics.

His armband proved he was a red - Torres, Torres
You'll never walk alone it said - Torres, Torres
We bought the lad from sunny Spain
He gets the ball, he scores again
Fernando Torres, Liverpool's number 9
PLEASE BEAT MANCHESTER UNITED TOMORROW!
EDIT: Watch what he did today

My 2009 NHL Hockey Fantasy Team
Well the upcoming season is almost underway and it's obviously time for some fantasy hockey right? I'm participating in the same fantasy hockey league as last year. However, it's getting more competitive with the addition of 2 good managers. As the defending champion, it will be pretty hard to repeat because of higher level of competition and also because you just don't know what can happen injury wise. Nonetheless, I feel pretty confident about getting a good season if my key players can stay healthy and I'm also pretty optimistic that several of my sleeper picks (round 11 to 18) will pan out.
Team Requirements & Scoring System
3 C, 3 LW, 3 RW, 4 D, 2 G, 3 Bench, 2 IR

NFL 2009 Season Predictions
* Rankings from left-to-right
AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE
EAST

New England Patriots (12-4)
QB Brady comes back and will lead this team to a division title. It will be interesting to see how the departure of some key veterans (Vrabel, Bruschi, Seymour) will affect the defense. If there's one head coach who can have success despite key players leaving the team, that's definitely Belichick.
Miami Dolphins (9-7)
It will be fun to watch how the Dolphins will improve their wildcat offense. Should they rename it the Wildpat offense with Pat White? Unlike last season, this year's schedule will be tougher for Miami but I think they will still have a winning record.
Buffalo Bills (8-8)
They improved their offense with WR Owens but their offensive line is still weak and their defense is still average. Nonetheless, QB Edwards when healthy can win games for this team. I expect a big year from WR Lee Evans playing alongside T.O.
New York Jets (7-9)
The Jets will go through ups and downs with a rookie QB and a rookie head coach. Is QB Sanchez another Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco? Nonetheless, he has a pretty good surrounding cast to help him on offense with RB Washington and TE Keller.
NORTH

Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5)
The reigning Super Bowl champions will once again win this division. However, I just don't see them reaching the Super Bowl this season. They're pretty good on offense but are simple deadly on defense. Last time they won the Super Bowl, the Steelers didn't make the playoffs the following season.
Baltimore Ravens (10-6)
Will Joe Flacco repeat his success from his rookie season? Will the defense still be dominant? I answer yes to both questions. I also think the Ravens have a legit chance at winning the division. Watch out for RB Ray Rice to have a breakout year.
Cincinnati Bengals (5-11)
A healthy QB Palmer will have fun throwing the ball to WR Ochocinco. However, their defense is still really awful, despite some bright spots like OLB Rivers. Can someone please tell me how Marvin Lewis still has a job especially since he's a "defense" guy?
Cleveland Browns (4-12)
New coach in Mangini. Potentially new starting QB in Quinn. One of the best KR/PR in the game in Cribbs. One of the best LT in Thomas. However, I still don't think the Browns will make the playoffs this year. Even my friend RaiderJester don't think they'll make the playoffs, right Jester? Oh yeah, watch out for RB James Davis, who might make an instant impact.
SOUTH

Indianapolis Colts (11-5)
Peyton Manning will lead his team back to a division title but I don't think they will reach 12 wins for a 7th consecutive season. No more WR Harrison but WR Wayne, Gonzalez & TE Clark will step up. Watch out for rookie RB Brown to complement Joseph Addai. SS Bob Sanders missing the first part of the season will hurt the defense. I think head coach Caldwell will be able to handle things especially with Tom Moore and Howard Mudd coming back for another season.
Houston Texans (10-6)
If QB Schaub stays healthy, I think this team will make the playoffs. With superstars like WR Johnson and DE Williams on both side of the ball, the Texans will be fun to watch this year. Don't forget they also have MLB Ryans, RB Slaton & TE Daniels. It's definitely a make or break season for the Texans and head coach Garry Kubiak.
Tennessee Titans (9-7)
I honestly don't think the Titans will be as successful as last year. Their RB duo of Johnson and White is amazing but I don't think it will be enough. They lost one of their anchor on defense in DT Haynesworth and I'm still not sold on QB Collins. Maybe QB Young will be the starter it the last portion of the season.
Jacksonville Jaguars (6-10)
This season will be a transition year for the Jaguars since they revamped their offensive line with 2 rookies (Monroe, Britton). RB Jones-Drew will have a monster season especially without Fred Taylor to share the carries with. However, will the real David Gerrard (2007 vs 2008) please stand up. Will it be Jack Del Rio's last chance?
WEST

San Diego Chargers (12-4)
The Chargers will win this division no matter what. I have total confidence that they will win at least 10 games especially in a weak division like the AFC West. QB Rivers will have another Pro Bowl caliber season. RB Tomlinson and Sproles will share the workload. TE Gates is still one of the best in the league and WR Jackson will have another good year. Let's just hope OLB Merriman can stay healthy or out of trouble with the law.
Denver Broncos (5-11)
This season will be a transition year for the Broncos with new head coach McDaniels. No more Jay Cutler which I think might be a blessing in disguise. Don't get me wrong, the guy has one powerful arm and accuracy but he still throws an incredible amount of INT. I'm not saying QB Orton is better but he was able to manage games in Chicago and led them to some winning season. I think RB Moreno will make a big impact on the Broncos and WR Marshall will deliver despite being unhappy.
Oakland Raiders (5-11)
Will QB Russel breakout this season? Will RB McFadden breakout this season? Will WR Heyward-Bay do anything this year? Honestly, I really don't know the answer to all those questions. One thing is for sure, the Raiders have one of if not the best CB in the league with Asomugha. This division is so mediocre that I can see them win 5 games.
Kansas City Chiefs (4-12)
I'm still not sold on QB Cassel, especially since he won't have all the weapons he had in New England. However, I do think the Chiefs are in the right direction in their quest to improve their team. It will be weird not to see TE Gonzalez with the orange uniform. WR Bowe will probably have another big year but he really needs to stop dropping passes.
PLAYOFFS

NATIONAL FOOTBALL CONFERENCE
EAST

Philadelphia Eagles (11-5)
It might come as a surprise for a lot of people but I do think the Eagles will win the NFC East. I really like what they've done with their offense with the addition of WR Maclin, RB McCoy, LT Peters ... and QB Vick. Imagine Vick and McNabb on the field at the same time. I don't think a lot of defense can cope with 2 athletic QBs. Will be interesting to see how they will cope on defense without SS Dawkins.
New York Giants (10-6)
They truly have a great team on paper, especially on both offensive and defensive line. However, I just have this feeling that they will underachieve this year. I'm not sold on Eli Manning being a star QB in the league. Yeah, he won a Super Bowl. Nonetheless, he's not putting great numbers like the other elite QBs. Bottom line, RB Jacobs will be there to pound opposing defenses and the defense will win them plenty of games.
Dallas Cowboys (9-7)
What will happen with America's Team? I think they will have their ups and downs during the season. Like last season, they will start up strong and will fade away come mid-November. Nonetheless, they still have a dominant defense with the likes of OLB Ware, CB Newman. Can QB Romo finally deliver and win a playoff game? I don't think it will be this year.
Washington Redskins (8-8)
I really like the defense prior to the Haynesworth signing and I like it more afterwards. However, with the Redskins, it all depends on their offense and I don't think QB Campbell is the guy to run it. RB Portis will have another good year and WR Moss will stretch defenses. However, I think that won't be enough for the Redskins to make the playoffs.
NORTH

Minnesota Vikings (10-6)
With the addition of QB Favre, I honestly do think the Vikings will repeat as winner of the NFC North. The RB duo of Peterson and Taylor is incredible. Same thing can be said about the offensive and defensive line. I'm really glad to see MLB E.J. Henderson back and think he can have a Pro Bowl caliber season. With all that being said, if Favre goes down or the Williams get suspended for 4 games, then I see the Vikings finishing 3rd in the division with a 9-7 record.
Green Bay Packers (10-6)
Despite them being divisional rivals, I think I will enjoy watching the Packers play this season especially with emerging star QB Rodgers. I think he will be in the top 5 for QB at the end of this season. With Green Bay, most of the questions are on the defensive side of the ball. Will the team cope with the 3-4 defense? I honestly think so with all their defensive playmakers.
Chicago Bears (9-7)
Jay Cutler comes into town and everybody in Chicago thinks they will win the Super Bowl right? First and foremost, Cutler needs to lead his team to the playoffs for the first time of his career. Nonetheless, he's a quality QB but won't have the same weapons as he had in Denver. RB Forte is a stud and will provide offense in anyway possible. However, I truly don't think they will make the playoffs this year. I just hope I'm right in that prediction.
Detroit Lions (3-13)
It's now the Matthew Stafford era in Detroit. Well it has to be since he was awarded a 78M$/6 years (42M$ guaranteed). The Lions won't go throughout another season without a single win. WR Megatron, huh I mean Calvin Johnson will once again rack up huge numbers. OLB Sims will be counted to be the defensive leader. However, the Lions are still far away from a playoff spot but they now have a nice group of players to build around.
SOUTH

New Orleans Saints (10-6)
Last season, QB Brees was able to be extremely productive without most of his weapons because of injuries. However, they're now all healthy and ready to go. The Saints will again score a tremendous amount of points this season. The major change I see in that team is their defense which I think will be better than last season which will in turn, give them more wins. I expect a division win for the Saints. Yeah, I know! I am probably the only one on Xanga who think that.
Atlanta Falcons (9-7)
Another year for QB Ryan at the helm of the Falcons offense. Will he be able to become a better QB? I do think so, especially with weapons like RB Turner, WR White and TE Gonzalez. The question with the Falcons will be on the defensive side of the ball. They really need to improve that aspect of their game especially in a division that includes the Saints and Panthers. I see them having another good season but not making the playoffs because of some tiebreakers.
Carolina Panthers (9-7)
Why would a 12-4 team finish with a 9-7 record at the end of this season? RB DeAngelo Williams will run for a lot of yardage and touchdowns. The Panthers defense will play pretty well like they usually do. However, I think QB Jake Delhomme will have an abysmal year and will cost his team a playoff spot.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-12)
It will be a transition year for the Buccaneers with head coach Morris replacing Gruden. The team will have a new QB in Leftwich and also a promising QB in Freeman who might be the starter by the end of the season. Let's just hope for their sake that TE Winslow and WR Bryant stays as healthy as possible otherwise it will be a long year for Buccaneers fans.
WEST

Seattle Seahawks (9-7)
The Seahawks will have a new coach in Mora Jr. QB Hasselbeck comes back after a dreadful 2008 season filled with injuries and struggles. WR Houshmandzadeh will help stabilize a receiving core which include Branch & Burleson. However, their strength will come from their defense with that incredible linebacking core (Tatupu, Hill and Curry). Seahawks fans should expect something great this year. Let's just hope for my sake that they lose vs the Vikings on week 11 and also finish with a worse record than Minnesota.
Arizona Cardinals (8-8)
Last season Super Bowl finalist will once again battle for a playoff spot in the NFC West. However, I don't think they will make it this year. Yeah, their passing attack is tremendous with QB Warner passing the ball to WR Fitzgerald, Boldin, Breaston and Urban. However, I'm still not sold on their defense which I think will ultimately cost them a playoff spot.
San Francisco 49ers (6-10)
It's just a shame that the 49ers don't have an elite QB, otherwise I really see them challenging for a playoff spot in the NFC West. They have a very promising WR in Josh Morgan and if "Holdout" Crabtree decides to finally sign, they might have a pretty good duo of WRs. Anyways, I love seeing MLB Patrick Willis play football. You can really see why he's one if not the best MLB in the NFL. All this team needs is an elite QB.
St-Louis Rams (2-14)
It will be another long season for Rams fans. I honestly think QB Bulger will once again get sacked like crazy. I don't think RB Jackson will be able to repeat what he did a couple of seasons ago. No more Torry Holt, no more greatest show on turf. It will be a great learning experience for head coach Spagnuolo who will do his best to fix the defense. Looks like the Rams will pick QB Sam Bradford from Oklahoma in the next NFL draft.

Federer vs Wawrinka @ Stade Uniprix, Montreal
This past Thursday, my brother was able to get some tickets to go see Roger Federer play at the Uniprix Stadium here in Montreal. I was super thrilled with the opportunity to finally watch a live tennis match & more importantly to watch one of the best player of all-time play in my hometown. As you can see from the pictures, we were seated in one corner of the central court. Nonetheless, we still had a great view of the action. The featured match was between Roger Federer (blue shirt) and Stanislav Wawrinka (yellow shirt). Both players represented Switzerland at the Beijing Summer Olympics games and won the gold medal in the men's double. Every tennis fan knows about Federer's great talent but not everybody knows about Wawrinka. From what I saw in this match, he's a very good player. He has a great powerful serve (high percentage 1st serve), a very good forehand and an excellent backhand. However, he's still makes plenty of mental mistakes which he will reduce with more experience but you can really see that he's very talented. No wonder he was 9th overall in the ATP ranking last month. During the match, there were several breathtaking points, especially when both players where hitting with their one-handed backhand. Unfortunately for Wawrinka, he was defeated by a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Nevertheless, he got a standing ovation for his effort from the crowd when he exited the court. As for Federer, he was in great control of his shots despites some unforced errors. His one-handed backhand was amazing to watch live since he has such a great technique. He took a tremendous amount of time to sign autographs for his fans after the game. Overall, what a player and a gentleman that Roger Federer!

Montreal Impact vs Girondins Bordeaux
Yesterday night, my friend and I went to Saputo Stadium here in Montreal.in order to watch a friendly soccer game between the Montreal Impact and les Girondins de Bordeaux. This was my first time at that newly built stadium and I was pretty eager to finally watch a live soccer game. First thing, we were seated in section 114 or more commonly know as the Montreal Ultras' section. They are a group of fanatics who constantly chants throughout the entire game. I have to say that I was very impressed by the passion and dedication shown by those fans ... however, at one point, I just wanted to watch the game and not continually cheer like they do. Second thing, you could really see how good Bordeaux FC was despite the team line-up their bench players. They were way quicker in their execution and their level of skills was on a different level. I was pretty impressed by Yoann Gouffran who was the player of the match. Montreal played OK and were able to create a couple of great scoring chances but the bulk of ball possession was in favor of Bordeaux . Overall, it was a great night and I will definitely go back to Saputo Stadium.

T-Rex
I've seen these cool looking cars on the road twice during the last week. As you can guess, every time there's one on the road, everybody will turn their head to check out this cool ride. I had the privilege to see one from close range while being on the bus the other day. I guess if you want something between a sports bike and a sports car, then the T-Rex is for you ... if you can afford it.

Sushi Drunk
I'm writing this since a couple of people have asked me about it. First and foremost, I have to say I've never eaten at a sushi place before this past week-end. Why you may ask? Well the reason is I'm allergic to seafood and a sushi restaurant is not the best place to eat if you want to avoid that kind of food. So the only time I've eaten sushi was at home where I made them. Anyways, a good friend of mine called me on Saturday to go to this all-you-can-eat sushi place. Since it was for his birthday, I decided to join. However, because I'm a complete "noob" about sushi, I had to ask a couple of friends at the restaurant what was the difference between maki, sashimi, nigiri, etc. You guys should have seen the face of that waitress watching us (well mainly me) asking all those questions
. One person in the group decided to bring a bottle of red wine to the restaurant. I have to say I'm no wine or food expert, but isn't red wine for red meat and white wine for fish & white meat. Anyways, wine is wine right? Well after a lot of indecision, I decided to leave the ordering part to my friend who knows about sushi. When the food came out, I decided to tried some maki and sashimi. I have to say that I'm not a fan of sashimi (raw thin pieces of fish). I'm also not a fan of wasabi and therefore rather eat sushi with only soy sauce. However, when the plates of maki came at our table, it was just a question of time before they were cleared. I have to say I love California rolls since it's the type of maki I eat at home. Oh yeah, one thing about most of all-you-can-eat sushi place is that they charge you for wasted food. Therefore, you better clear those plates than to leave stuff uneaten. Bottom line, after eating a tremendous amount of maki rolls, I became sushi drunk. What's that you may ask? Well, you know when you eat too much, sometimes you can get that lethargic feeling? Also drinking several glasses of wine didn't help too
. Overall, that was my first experience at a sushi place and I'm looking forward to going back. OK, not that soon since I still remember the feeling of being super full with maki rolls but still looking forward to it nonetheless.

Drive By Incubus
One of the most played song on my ipod. No need to tell you why right?
Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I let the fear
Take the wheel and steer
It's driven me before
And it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal
But lately I'm beginning to find that I
Should be the one behind the wheel
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there
So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
It's driven me before
And it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around
But lately I'm beginning to find that
When I drive myself my light is found
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there
Would you choose water over wine
Hold the wheel and drive
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there.

Thank You Joe Sakic
One of the best hockey player of all-time will retire from the NHL on Thursday. Joe Sakic will hang up his skates after spending 20 seasons with the Quebec Nordiques & Colorado Avanlache. I always loved Joe Sakic as a player despite him playing for the Quebec Nordiques at the beginning of his career. I will always remember when my brothers and I were watching hockey in the early 90's. One of them was a big Nordiques fan while the the other 2 and myself were Canadiens fans. No need to tell you how pumped we were or how many heated arguments we had when the Nordiques played the Canadiens right? Anyways, to make a long story short, despite playing for the "enemies", he's still one of my all-time favorite NHL player. At the beginning of his career, he was already one of the best in the league while being on the worst team. By watching him play, you could only be amazed by his talent for scoring goals with that wicked wrist shot of his. I honestly don't know a lot of players that had that quick of a release other than maybe Hull, Messier back then or Ovechkin nowadays. Not only was he an amazing goal scorer but was also a world-class playmaker.
My two favorite moments involving Sakic were when he won the Stanley Cup with Raymond Bourque in 2001 and when he won the gold medal with Canada at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Sakic will end his NHL career with 645 G, 1016A for 1641 PTS in 1378 games played. Bottom line, farewell Joe! You were a true gentleman on and off the ice and thank you very much for all the memories.
P.S.: Still working on a mega hockey post about the free-agency.

King Feds - 15!
The best tennis player ever gets his 15th major championship! Full congratulations to Roger Federer for another epic Wimbledon final. Watching Pistol Pete back at Wimbledon was really nice. Last but not least, I truly sympathize with Andy Roddick for his heartbreaking loss.
P.S: Instead of writing my own weblog, I put the link of 2 well written posts by 2 Xangans (Raymond_Tengen & DBF21). Full props to you guys for writing about that epic match.
