The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Injury
Ball hockey game tonight:
Good: Incredible intense game. Great skills from both teams. Game finished 10-9.
Bad: Unfortunate incident, thought it was an ankle sprain but when I got to the bench, noticed it was a twisted knee. Didn't play at all after the injury. Could only cheer for teammates. They played a hell of a game despite missing a player.
Ugly: Can't turn my leg without feeling any pain. Felt sharp pain on a couple occasions. Need to see family doctor next week. Hopefully will see a specialist. Ball hockey season for me might be over.
Bottom line: I still have a smile on my face despite the injury ... must be a mental illness
. It could have been way worse (i.e: torn ligaments). Thankfully I didn't hear the 'pop' that people hear when they rupture their ligaments. I honestly think I just sprained my knee ligaments. I can still walk straight without any problem. A bit more difficult going up or down the stairs.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Business Trips
The Good:
- Visit new places
- Meet new people
- Sleep @ nice hotels
- Every meals, lodging & airplane tickets ... all paid by the company.
- Get free Frequent Flyer points (Aeroplan)
The Bad:
- Away from home for an extended period of time
- Have to wait for connecting flights ... especially when there are delays.
- Most meals at restaurants are too greasy & salty ... but it tastes so good :)
- Most of the time, when I arrive home, it's pretty late in the evening & I have to work the following day.
The Ugly:
- While I'm on a business trip, the work I have to do at the workplace is not getting done.
- When I get back to the workplace, I have to catch up & also more work is delegated to me.
- I'm going back to Franklin, Ohio for one last time at the end of the month & work will once again pile up on my desk :)

Gutsy Move? ;)
I did something really unusual yesterday afternoon. I took the bus & subway to work (arrived @ 2:30PM and finished @ 11PM because I had an appointment at my local bank during the morning). When I got on the subway, I just sat down on a single seat like I usually do. I then decided to write a memo on my Blackberry, to type a travel checklist of things I will be needing for my business trip in 2 weeks. As I was typing everything, I noticed this cute Chinese girl who just sat right next to me. I first glanced at her and she made eye contact with me. At that time, I was pretty shocked with her beauty. I honestly think I glanced at her like 3 other times during the entire subway trip. When the subway arrived at one of the main connecting station, I got out of it before her and took the connecting subway on another line. I should have looked back to see where she was but I didn't do it. While being on that subway, I glanced around and saw her in the other wagon. She got out at the same station where I did my university studies. At that particular time I was like, well I need to talk to her so decided to also get out at the station. So, I walked towards the closest exit since we were in the front wagons but strangely she walked towards the other exit which was at the other far end.
When we crossed path, I did look at her and she also looked at me. After crossing path, we continued walking our separate directions. After walking a bit, I told myself, “Alex, you really need to talk to her” & at that moment, I turned around & walked toward her. Since I was walking pretty fast, I was able to reach her at the stairs. I touched her shoulder and asked her if I could get her phone number (yeah maybe way too forward but at that time I honestly didn’t care). She was probably way out of my league but I wanted to challenge myself to see if I was gutsy enough to go towards a stranger and ask her phone number. For some strange reasons, I was pretty nervous at that time ;). She then had a big genuine smile on her face and told me that she has already a boyfriend. At that time, I said: “Well, it’s OK because I really want to tell you that you’re one of the cutest girl I’ve ever met in my life”. So I smiled at her and left to take another subway in order to go to work.
You should have seen my face during the rest of the trip. I had this huge grin all the way. I was like: “Wow, did I really do that?” :). It was honestly an awesome feeling. Bottom line, I did something I've never done before in a public random place ... "asking a total stranger her phone number and telling her she's really cute". Overall, I was really happy I acted instead taking the easy way out which was to do nothing ... and she got a genuine compliment from a total stranger :).

Live simply so other people can simply live ...
I saw the following video on a friend's Facebook wall. In this past year, he had the heart-breaking experience of suddenly losing his father. After watching the video, I completely understood why he posted it.
I'm so grateful that my mother is still alive and healthy (especially after what happened in the last couple of years). I did and will continue to tell her how grateful am I for everything she did for me. It's mainly because of her that I am the man I am today and for that, I'm eternally thankful. Every time I have the chance to tell her how I feel, she always tells me how proud she is about having me as a son. Instances like when I left home for Portugal (4 months in 2006) or when I graduated from university or when I got my first engineering job. I will never have the regret of not telling her how grateful I am of still having her in my life.
Today, November 20th, is her 73rd birthday today.

After being on about 2000 km of roads and highways in Germany, no need to tell you that me and my boss listened to plenty of radio during our business trip. I honestly don't know how many times I've heard this song during it. I have no clue what it is about. I think @godfatherofgreenbay or @nattata can help me understand :). Bottom line I have this song stuck in my head.

Mika - Elle me dit

Elle me dit “tu deviendras milliardaire. T’auras de quoi être fier. Ne finis pas comme ton père”.
Elle me dit “ne t’enferme pas dans ta chambre, vas-y, secoue-toi et danse, dis moi c’est quoi ton problème?”
Elle me dit “qu’est ce que t’as, t’as l’air coincé, t’es défoncé ou t’es gai. Tu finiras comme ton frère”.
REFRAIN:
Elle me dit, elle me dit “c’est ta vie, fais ce que tu veux tant pis, un jour tu comprendras, un jour tu t’en voudras”
Elle me dit “t’es trop nul, sors un peu de ta bulle. Tu fais n’importe quoi, on dirait que t’aimes ca.”
Pourquoi tu gâches ta vie? (X3)
Danse danse danse danse elle me dit danse
Pourquoi tu gâches ta vie? (X3)
Danse danse danse danse
On dirait que t’as huit ans. C’est pas comme ca que tu vas plaire”
Elle me dit “un jour je ne serai plus là et c’est quand elle me dit ça qu’elle me dit un truc que j’aime.
REFRAIN

I've Almost Lost My ...
Soul? No, not yet ... ;). Just my cellphone. It's a Blackberry Curve 8900. This evening, I was at a local coffee shop / lounge with 2 buddies from my university days. We have this tradition to meet once every month at that particular place just to talk and catch up on our lives. Like always, time flew because we had such a great time talking and making jokes at each others expense. We stayed for about 2 hours and a half. When it was time to go, I was careless and didn't check to see if I had my cellphone. Therefore, I just left with my 2 friends and took the subway back home. In order to get home from that place, I have to change subway lines. When I got out of the first line, I noticed I didn't have my cellphone. Thankfully I didn't panic and called my cellphone number. Unfortunately, I didn't get any answer. Therefore, I took the subway in the other direction and went back to the coffee place. When I arrived over there, I asked the waitress if she found a Blackberry. She told me no but offered to lend me her cellphone so that I could call from it. Unfortunately it was at that time I realized it was in vibration mode. Nonetheless, the group of 4 people who were sitting at our previous seats stood up and helped me find it. After 5 seconds of search, one guy asks me if that is what I'm looking for? I wished I could see the relief on my face at that particular instant. Oh yeah, it's a company cellphone with all my contacts (personal & work) on it. Therefore, it was really extremely important for me to find it. I felt so relieved afterwards that I pay for 4 beers, one for each member of that group and obviously gave the waitress a big tip :). Lesson of the day: Always check for all my belongings when leaving any place. :)

Vincent Vallières - On Va S'aimer Encore
On va s'aimer ...

Cousin's Wedding (Ottawa)
- 3 weeks ago (last weekend of July), my entire family & I went to Ottawa for my cousin Mary's wedding. The last time I was there was in April. It's just incredible that we always have a blast whenever we go there.
- My cousin Mary has been through a lot of things in her life like unfortunately losing her mother at a young age and also becoming a mother in her late teens. Nonetheless, she never gave up and is now rewarded with all the great things happening in her life.
- Joey, her husband is an awesome guy. They will definitely be incredibly happy with each other.
- The ceremony was simple and perfect. There were about 150 guests.
- The reception hall was well decorated. The food was incredibly good and very filling :).

- My cousin's close friends constantly tried to set me up with their single friends. They just couldn't believe that I'm 29. They honestly thought I was 22-23. Well I have to admit, I look young but not that young :). One of them even wanted to see my ID cards ;).
- The next day, we spent the entire day with the entire family. 1st: Dimsum. 2nd: Family gathering at my cousins mother's grave. 3rd: Supper at my cousin John's house. 4th: 2 hour drive home.
Overall, it was truly a great experience since I haven't been attending weddings since a very long time ago. I wish my cousins in Ottawa all the happiness in the world and can't wait to see them again later in the fall. Thank you very much Mary, Lily and John for the hospitality.
